Below 80! 🔽
Wow, the next few nights are predicted to be below 80 degrees! It’s gotten me to thinking of the number in The Mikado, when the character KoKo is wooing Katisha. He asks her whether she thinks she’s old enough to marry: “Won’t you wait until you’re eighty in the shade?”
Gilbert’s genius with words aside, I’m glad it will actually be below 80 for a few nights. It won’t help a great deal with the heat, but it’s better than nothing.
Drying Up 🌵
We still have to keep cool; and it also seems like we’re drying up. The humidity is 59%; and for us, that’s rather low.
Lower humidity means the heat won’t be quite as oppressive; and that’s a help when I’m riding. I’m debating whether to ride at a leisurely pace tomorrow; or work at pushing the pace.
Yesterday I did some one-minute efforts on the biggest ring; and somehow that seemed to tire me too much. Or maybe a cup of cherries and 8 oz of nut milk wasn’t enough of a pre-ride meal!
That’s why I take along a protein bar on my rides; especially if I’m pushing for 20 miles. I don’t want to bonk!
