Make Do 🔨
It’s make do time again! This morning I took the road bike to the shop to have it checked out. Since my fall last Wednesday, it just doesn’t feel right. If I did knock a wheel out of true, it might not be the best thing to continue riding the bike; especially not long distances.
The shop couldn’t take care of it immediately; and it might be next Wednesday or Thursday by the time I get my bicycle back. It’s a good thing I can make do with the hybrid until then; although that will mean plodding along at a lower pace.
Plodding 🐌
I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow while I’m riding. After all, rain adds to the sense that I’m plodding along; and in fact, heavy rain does mean slowing down due to visibility problems!
When I make do with the hybrid for a long ride, I have to carry my on-bike food in the trunk. That means stopping and dismounting every time I want a bite to eat; and this makes my pace all the more plodding. I don’t need to do this often enough to make a handlebar bag worth the cost, though.
My plan for tomorrow is to push for 30 miles or so. It will take time; but I believe I can do it. I’m practicing for RAGBRAI, after all.

ABOUT ME
I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.
I live in New Orleans; and retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
