Explosivity 🌋
Explosivity sounds like a volcanic eruption; and after viewing this video, I’m glad I only have to worry about hurricanes. It’s hard to imagine what it’s like to live in close proximity to a volcano that might act up at any time.
Then there’s the explosivity of a racing cyclist going into that final, winning sprint. I sure can’t manage that kind of power output; but sometimes I wish I could. It would help with those hills during RAGBRAI! I’m continuing to work at simulated hills; but I don’t know yet how long the climbs on RAGBRAI might be.
Slow and Steady 🐢
I’ve probably said it before, and I’ll say it again: slow and steady (or maybe not quite so slow!) is the way to go if you aren’t racing. Even if you are, remember that the tortoise beat the hare!
Explosivity probably isn’t necessary if you go the tortoise route; but slow and steady energy output is still needed. That, in turn, means proper fueling!
Does any long-distance cyclist ever stop experimenting with on-bike food? I suppose not; I’m always on the lookout for new things to try. Maybe one of these days, I’ll find the magic-formula food that will increase my explosivity!

ABOUT ME
I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.
I live in New Orleans; and retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
