Ready to Strike? 🔨

Are those storms getting ready to strike? With that wind, I know I’m glad not to be trying to control a campfire so I can make s’mores!

Today’s plan was to ride short and easy; but because of the forecast, I didn’t want to be outdoors. Who knew exactly when the wind might get bad?

Around noon, I could hear that it was blowing much more strongly; and for several hours, I had been waiting for a  tornado watch to be announced. About half-past noon, I set up the trainer so I could do some leisurely pedaling for half an hour.

As I pedaled, I thought it sounded like the wind was abating; but that only made me think: is the bad weather merely getting ready to strike?

Tornado Watch! 🌪️

Once off the trainer, I checked the weather site again; and sure enough, we’re under tornado watch until 7 pm. So far I don’t think it’s rained here; but a radar image shows rain not far from us. It’s only a matter of time before it arrives; so I feel like the weather is ready to strike at any moment.

The wind is strong enough that I hear things getting blown around outdoors. I think I’ve got some kind of weather radio somewhere, and my cell phone has a weather warning app on it; so I should be able to get any warnings that crop up.

I hope I can ride outdoors tomorrow; but the wind will still be pretty strong. That makes controlling a bicycle tricky. On the other hand, I need RAGBRAI practice!

ABOUT ME

I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.

I live in New Orleans; and  retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
