Unsettled Weather 🌊 ⛈️

We’ve definitely got some unsettled weather here! We’ve gotten our second Special Weather Statement in a few hours about strong T-storms in the area. Heavy rain is expected; and we’re under a Flash Flood Warning.

This unsettled weather will probably continue well into tomorrow; and it looks like I won’t be able to ride until mid-afternoon. I wish I could have ridden longer this morning, to make up for the expected lack of cycling tomorrow; but I did force work, and was getting tired.

Force Work 👊

Force work might be more interesting if I had a power meter. I could know how much power I’m actually generating; but power meters are expensive. Once or twice I’ve been on the verge of buying one for my road bike; when up came the need for costly dental work! I finally gave up on the idea of power meters.

Today I did my force work on the hybrid, anyway. The road bike’s rear shifter had been creaking as I shifted to larger cogs; and it also felt stiff. Ergo the bike is in the shop to get checked out.

I’m glad this unsettled weather waited for afternoon to move in. Lightning dancing around while I’m riding makes me uneasy; and if it rains hard, it’s difficult to see. Then I don’t want to start force work, because I might get as fast as 18 mph. And then I need to see!

ABOUT ME

I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.

I live in New Orleans; and  retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
