Gotta Say No Sometimes 👎
I’ve gotta say no sometimes — say, when it’s overcast; T-storms are possible; and wind gusts are reaching 30 mph. Not my favorite riding conditions!
It wasn’t bad before 8:30 am. I made a trip to the supermarket 🥕🍎; hoping during the entire ride that I would beat the rain home. I had my poncho; but it’s a nuisance to have to stop and put it on.
I got home dry. An hour later, the wind had strengthened considerably; and strong gusts were setting in. Some were as strong as 30 mph; and I’m not sure I could make any headway against them. I was glad to be at home instead of riding. Ya gotta say no sometimes!
When No Is Yes 👍
Then I remembered that I needed to call the bike shop to ask whether my road bike’s new cassette had arrived. It had; and this is a time when no is yes. Although I really didn’t want to go out, I prodded myself into it.
I’ve been waiting for that cassette for a long time — the shop had to backorder it — and I didn’t want to delay getting my bike there. However, I decided to walk the bike to the shop rather than ride, in case it began to rain. I’m not a big fan of riding alongside motor traffic any time; but especially not in bad weather!
We got a brief shower about noon; and more rain is likely. It’s an unseasonable 77 degrees; and T-storms are no surprise. I just hope they take a break for a few hours tomorrow, so I can go to the salvage store. If they don’t, well, I gotta say no sometimes.

ABOUT ME
I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.
I live in New Orleans; and retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
