FOMO Strikes Again ☹️
FOMO strikes again!
Fear of missing out has reached epidemic proportions, from what I can gather. Not even young children are immune. I’ve read a number of online articles about over-scheduled kids; they hardly have time to just be kids. (Do they even have time to enjoy riding their bicycles?) I’m glad I grew up before all that fear of missing out began!
Even so, I suffer from my own brand of FOMO. When the weather forecasts are less than favorable, I worry that I won’t be able to ride; and I really miss the miles when bad weather keeps me indoors. It might help if I had the set-up that would let me enjoy virtual rides; but heck, I don’t even have a television!
I skipped the trip to the salvage store yesterday because the forecast was a stormy one; and whenever that happens, I worry that I’ve missed some great bargains. FOMO strikes again!
Racking Up Some Miles 😮💨
I’m racking up some miles; namely, I’m adding a little more distance. I keep track of distance; time; and other data with my Garmin; and last week I began to notice that a ride of 19 miles or so suddenly seemed easier than it used to be.
I decided that it’s time to add another mile or two once a week; and as time goes on, I’ll lengthen more of my rides. Racking up some miles will help me reach my current goal: to have my long-term distance total reach 70K by the end of the year. I’ll need to average about 103-104 miles per week to succeed; so I hope we don’t get any hurricanes that will thwart my plans!

ABOUT ME
I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.
I live in New Orleans; and retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
