Hello Old Friend 👋
Today I could say, Hello, old friend. For the first time since the accident, I went up on top of the levee to ride. It was good to see the river and the bike path again!
The ride went well; and I think I’ll try a ride to the salvage store tomorrow. The round trip is only a little over 11 miles; and in the past week, I’ve done 10+ miles with no trouble.
It didn’t feel like late December, though. Seventy-seven degrees! The sky looks more like June; and the wind feels summery. It’s become quite cloudy, too; but at least the overcast helps keep the temperature down.
I’m riding the hybrid for now; I’m not sure my arm is ready for a road bike quite yet. But things are looking up! It’s great to get on the levee and say, hello old friend.
June? ☀️
If it feels like June today, what will it be like six months from now? Are we going to get any real Winter? We do have some cold weather on the way; but now long will it stick around?
Tonight it will be foggy again; and it’s getting tiresome. I’m glad I don’t need to head for the salvage store at 6:00 am! But even though it will be foggy, rain isn’t expected before Sunday night.
Speaking of June, I hope I’m back in shape by then; less because I have any plans for bicycle touring than because I’m not enjoying being out of condition!

ABOUT ME
I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.
I live in New Orleans; and retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
