In a few days, thousands of  us cyclists will team up for the big ride across Iowa! And there are two personages (is that the correct word?) whom I hope will team up: The Madonna of Ghisallo; and Our Lady of Prompt Succor.

The former is the patron saint of cyclists; and citizens of New Orleans  beg the latter for protection against hurricanes. We could use that right now.

There’s a system right out there in the Gulf that warrants close watching. I hope that Saharan dust and wind shear team up and destroy it!

So far, it looks like we won’t be expecting tropical storm conditions before the end of this week. I’ve been very concerned about that; or am I getting ahead of myself?

Here I go, getting ahead of myself again. I need to save my energy, mental as well as physical, for the upcoming RAGBRAI. And I’m already thinking of how I can train better for the 2026 event!

I’ll wait and see how this year’s RAGBRAI goes; and then consider training up for 2026. I might decide that one RAGBRAI is enough; and that would be fine. At least I can say, Hey, I did it!

Or I might team up with some other riders whose pace matches  mine; and who knows, it might mean I’ll have someone to travel to Iowa with for next year’s RAGBRAI.

ABOUT ME

I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story.

I live in New Orleans; and  retired in January 2023. More time for cycling!
