I Feel Like Corn
Today it’s so hot that I feel like corn — like roastin’ ears, that is. It’s 98 degrees out there; and the heat index is 105!
I would have had a hot ride home; but today I didn’t ride to work. It was less because of the anticipated heat, than because I had to run an errand before I went to work. I didn’t feel like trying to ride with 9:00 am traffic on a weekday!
Tomorrow will be yet another scorcher; and I hope it doesn’t get too miserably hot before I can get home from the salvage store. Sunday will be hot, too; and I think I better start my ride by 6:00 am, or even earlier. I’m lagging when it comes to mileage; and I want to shoot for 40 miles.
T-storms are possible over the next few days; and maybe a rip-roaring T-storm will cool us off a little. I just hope the lightning doesn’t fire up while I’m out there on a bicycle!
At least once, I got caught miles from home when the lightning was only about a quarter-mile away; and it was not fun! On top of the atmospheric electricity, it was pouring rain; and there was a strong wind. It made me feel like a rolling lightning rod.
But today I feel like corn. I’m glad I’m not popcorn, or this heat would have made me burst by now!
