These don’t look like kid gloves to me!
They say some people have to be handled with kid gloves. Could that also be true of bicycles?
The hand-wear shown above isn’t so fancy; but these keep your hands more comfortable while cycling. Unprotected hands are much more prone to chafing and blisters; and if you happen to take a spill, un-gloved hands are far more likely to lose a lot of skin!
Gloves also help to keep your hands from slipping on hot, sweaty days; and the same goes for riding in the rain. Now that it’s hot; and T-storms with heavy rain are more likely; it’s time to be sure I’ve got those “hand shoes” on!
Speaking of rain, there’s the question of special rain gear. A T-storm often means strong wind; and a poncho flaps around so much that bike handling is difficult. A rain suit, I expect, wouldn’t flap so much; but I’ll bet it’s hot under there; even in cold weather.
Cold weather is quite some time off where I live; but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about cold-weather cycling gear. If it’s below about 45 degrees, I want to “go lobster“. The catch with something like that is, it makes on-bike eating much more awkward.
To summarize: I don’t handle my bicycles with kid gloves; but I want hand protection when I ride!
