That’s a sticky one for me. Ive used lights any time I ride for years, especially if I have to be anywhere around traffic. It’s hard enough to see a car during the day it if doesn’t have lights on; and I’m sure a bicycle sans illumination is  much harder to see, even at high noon. Now that we know that using headlights in daylight is taboo, when on a bicycle tour in Cambodia, what about dress? Modesty is expected, particularly for women. Would the ladies in a bicycle tour group be excused for wearing skin-tight Lycra® shorts? At least, while actually on the bike? Be sure to bring along something that you can don quickly and easily, so you can cover up in case your group decides to visit a temple. Other taboos: never touch another person’s head; do not point using only the forefinger; and don’t even think of saying or doing anything disrespectful towards the Buddha. What kind of weather can we expect? Cambodia’s climate is tropical; and during the hottest part of the year, the temperature can rise to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. That sounds like the afternoon heat index here during the hottest part of the year. Keep both sunblock and poncho on hand! ABOUT ME I began this website primarily as a way to present the story of how I accomplished a century ride on an adult tricycle. Other riders of adult trikes might want to know whether it’s possible. It sure is! You can read all about it in My Story. I live in New Orleans; and  retired in January 2023. More time for cycling! Weight Loss Woes

Weight loss woes? Whoa there! What\’s not to like about having shed some excess pounds? There are, in fact, some drawbacks. The biggest one for me is that my cycling clothes now don\’t fit quite right. Of course I\’m delighted that I can now get into my cycling shorts without a struggle. But this also means that those silicone bands around the shorts\’ legs no longer fit right. When I was heavier, they got overly stretched; and now they creep up my legs as I pedal. When the weather was still warm, that wasn\’t a big deal. Now that some days are cool enough for leg warmers, it drives me crazy. Not only do the shorts crawl up; the leg warmers, too, got over-stretched when I weighed more; and they slide downwards. On top of that, the silicone bands on the shorts don\’t seem to grip the leg warmers well. Even when I\’m only riding to and from the store, I have to make frequent stops to pull those shorts\’ legs back down! At present I don\’t want to buy new clothes. My finances are just starting to recover from the oral surgery. The pandemic has resulted in my doing extra spending (\”just in case\”); and it soon will be time for holiday gift-shopping. Maybe a suspender belt would do the trick? I know this much: I\’m not planning to solve my weight loss woes by deliberately gaining back those pounds!
