Headlights 😵💫

Headlights for bicycles are, by all I’ve read, required by law. I’ve had several brands. The earlier ones that I used needed dry batteries; and were rather weak. As I remember, my first headlight was only 250 lumens! Over time, as I got faster, I opted for more and more lumens.
For years prior to my retirement, I regularly rode before sunup; and I eventually put my headlight on top of my helmet. The main provocation for that move was that a handlebar-mounted light interfered with the particular bicycle computer I was using at the time.
What a difference it made to have a light on top of my head; especially on a foggy morning! I could see better that way, because no matter where I looked; my light’s beam was automatically pointed in that direction. But even an 800-lumen headlight can seem too weak in fog and rain. At times I wish my headlight were as powerful as a lighthouse beam!
I’ve found that lights are important even in the day time! I noticed that cars can be hard to see if they don’t have their lights on, even at high noon. I figured that, if it can be so hard to see something that size when it doesn’t have lights on, I on a bicycle must be even harder to see if I don’t have lights.
