bent might look slow and unwieldy; but I’ve seen riders on recumbents; and they can go amazingly fast. Not all the ‘bent riders have been on three wheels, either. I’ve also seen the two-wheeled variety.

This “chaise lounge on wheels” lets the upper body recline and be supported. There’s less strain on the hands than with a conventional bicycle. A downside is that one’s nether parts get no air circulation. A mesh seat can help with this problem.

Another catch is that a ‘bent is quite low to the ground. If you must ride one alongside traffic, a warning flag is a good idea.

I’ve seen ‘bents outfitted with a fairing that helps reduce headwinds. It’s similar to this; but, of course, larger.

Who knows? Maybe some day I’ll be on a ‘bent myself!
